NAPARIMA COLLEGE FOREVER |
Trinidad (Iere) showing main communities and its three mountain ranges - and seven-and-seventy-five schools of the Canadian Mission. Despite difficult travel in the early days, the Canadian Mission eventually established 73 elementary schools in as many town and village communities. Naparima College, in San Fernando (pop. approx 50,000 in 1990, 7,000 in 1870) eventually drew students from communities all over the southern half of Trinidad. Trinidad's population is more than one million today. When the missionaries began their work in the 1860's, it was an estimated 120,000.
